Some love stories are written in the stars; others are inspired by history. Nicole and Derek’s wedding was both—a celebration of love in a setting rich with the past, yet infused with their own distinctive style. Hosted at Kambones 1615, a historic Venetian home on the island of Naxos, Greece, their intimate wedding in the old olive press was nothing short of magical.

A Venue with a Story

Tucked away in a valley of olive groves on the island of Naxos, Kambones 1615 is an architectural gem that whispers tales of centuries past. Its old olive press, with its rustic stone walls and timeless elegance, became the perfect backdrop for a wedding that honoured both tradition and individuality

Dark Florals & Gothic Elegance

From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this was not a conventional wedding. Instead of pastel hues, deep reds and burgundy florals set the tone, creating a rich, dramatic aesthetic. Nicole and Derek exchanged vows in the olive press, accompanied by classical guitarist Nikos Karavias.

Locally sourced pomegranates, lentisk, olive and myrtle branches were used for decoration, in keeping with the rustic character of the venue and its sustainability credentials.

Aperitivo at the Olive Bar

Nicole and Derek wanted their wedding to be an experience, not just an event. Their aperitivo hour was a love letter to Greek flavours, featuring four gourmet extra virgin olive oils, a selection of olives, and traditional rusks. As the golden light of the autumn sunset illuminated the venue, guests indulged in these delicacies, enjoying the warmth of good company and dramatic scenery.

A Stunning Second Look

One of the most breathtaking moments of the evening was Nicole’s outfit change. Her wedding dress was gorgeous, with sequined organza over a pale apricot lining and a bouquet in moody colours but her second dress—a stunning strapless black gown—was the true showstopper. A bold and unconventional choice, it reflected the couple’s eclectic taste and contrasted against the warm, earthy tones of the tower house walls.

A Feast for the Senses

The dinner setup was as unique as the couple themselves. Eschewing tradition, the long table was draped in a burgundy cloth, adorned with grapes, myrtle, and pomegranates. The result? A visually stunning tablescape that looked like a scene from a Renaissance painting—opulent, intimate, and absolutely unforgettable.

A Celebration of Uniqueness

Nicole and Derek’s wedding was a testament to embracing one’s individuality. From the historic setting to the thoughtful details, every element reflected their creative personalities and love story. Their guests, a close-knit group of loved ones, made the celebration even more special—sharing in a night filled with love, laughter, and an atmosphere that was uniquely them.

For those who dream of a wedding that breaks the mould, Nicole and Derek’s celebration at Kambones 1615 proves that the most beautiful moments come from staying true to who you are.
